We've retired from restaurant ownership and closed the restaurant. We DO have fresh apples from our orchard, cakes baked to order and are planning cooking classes when we get our space arranged. Martin's Brandenburg, set in a historic, 19th century building in downtown Waverly. Martin's is reminiscent of both a quaint inn tucked in the Bavarian hills or in Munich. Martin's creates an atmosphere where even a true German would feel at home. From Jägerschnitzel to Filet Mignon, the award-winning menu features authentic German cuisine as well as steak, seafood, chicken, pork and vegetarian entrees. Martin's also features an extensive wine and beer menu .

Martin Vollmer is a European trained Chef, having begun his apprenticeship at the age of 14 in Baden-Baden. After 4 years of training and restaurant school, he worked in Munich and the Bavarian Alps, where he met his future wife, Beverly, an Iowa native, in 1965. Following his heart, he came to America in 1968, where he worked at the Berghoff in downtown Chicago. As the family grew, they moved to Iowa, where Martin practiced his art at the Embassy Club of the Hotel Fort Des Moines, and the Ames Golf and Country Club before moving to Waverly where he has been a chef since 1973.
